Participants

First Line Managers/Supervisors/Designers responsible for ensuring anchorage of mains in Gas Networks.

Aim

To provide the skills and knowledge to assist personnel in determining both temporary and permanent anchorage of metallic mains up to 350mm and operating up to 2 Barg.

Objectives

On completion of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of anchorage requirements to prevent movement of pipework and/or fittings in Gas Networks.
  • Given the relevant data, be able to design/construct temporary and permanent anchorage systems
  • Calculate the anchor block dimensions in accordance with industry standards & C.O.P.s
  • Complete relevant routine/non routine operation documentation associated with permitry systems, in particular the operational requirements for both temporary and permanent anchorage during the construction phase.

    This programme covers fundamental engineering principles associated with anchorage of Gas Networks.

    Methods

    Classroom based trainer led theory session. Written assessment and calculation of anchorage requirements.

    Pre-requisites

    Knowledge of gas network construction would be an advantage.
