Participants

Water Operatives identified as potential team leaders, who are responsible for installing, maintaining or replacing water service installations within UK water networks.

Aim

To provide the skills, knowledge and competence to enable individuals to install and maintain assets (water services) to national standards.

Objectives

Candidates to achieve CABWI Level 2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations (Water) - Service layer, leading to Energy & Utility Skills accreditation, which is the recommended minimum requirement  for individuals undertaking service laying activities on the UK water network. To enable candidates to demonstrate competence against the EUS framework, allowing Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS) status to be achieved with Lloyd’s Register.

Candidates must obtain a number of credits from the mandatory units depending on the pathway chosen:

32 credits - Service layer (Self lay) 

36 credits - Service layer (Distribution)

Further optional units are also available as part of the scheme.

This qualification is an opportunity for progression for learners who have already completed the Level 1 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Water).

Methods

Trainer/Assessor led theory and practical sessions, followed by awarding body written and practical assessments.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must possess a current National Water Hygiene qualification, and SHEA Water is mandatory for EU Skills registration. Candidates should preferably hold current NRSWA accreditation (minimum units 1 - 6). Additional training can be provided where required.
