Participants

Operatives who are required to use abrasive cut off machines.

Aim

To provide training and assessment for abrasive cut off machines and hand held grinders, including pre-use inspection, wheel identification, mounting of wheels, safe use of that machinery and safe shut down and storage.

Content

The course includes:

  • How an abrasive wheel works
  • Selecting, testing, inspecting and storing abrasive  wheels
  • Speeds of wheels and machines
  • Use of portable machines
  • Cutting and Grinding safety
  • Mounting abrasive wheels
  • PUWER Regulations
  • Risk assessment
  • Dust supression
  • PPE
  • Posture and manual handling

Methods

Lectures, practical demonstrations and practical assessments.
